Title:                    IT Systems Technician
Position:             Full-time Hourly/Non-Exempt

Principal Responsibilities:
  • Provide world class customer service for our shore and vessel staff at Marquette.
  • Provide remote as well as hands-on technical support for office employees and onboard Vessels.
  • Document all support tasks performed in the IT Helpdesk system.
  • Receive, test, inventory and configure technology hardware for shore and vessels.
  • Disconnect, move, and reconnect technology equipment to new locations in offices and onboard vessels.
  • General computer maintenance, repairs and adjustments.
  • Maintain Printers/scanners/multifunction devices onshore and Vessels.
  • Assist in providing network maintenance; test networks and connections with network vendors/providers.
  • Provide desk phone and cellphone hardware and configuration support.
  • Diagnose computer and device problems to determine root cause of malfunction.
  • Install, test and configure operating systems and authorized software as required.
  • Follow company policy in copying software and documentation.
  • Assist IT Support Supervisor in performing routine administrative duties such as account creation/deletion, password changes and mailbox creation/deletion.
  • Arrange for replacement of defective or incorrect equipment as directed.
  • Assist setting up for training and special demonstrations.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and cleaning of shore and vessel equipment as directed.
  • Arrange for delivery to off-site locations for major repairs or replacement, including warranty coverage.
  • Work scheduled “On-Call” afterhours rotation as required by IT Support Supervisor.
  • Cross-train to be able to provide full technical support for Vessels wiring and Vessel specific systems.
  • Be available to potentially travel up to 25% of your scheduled work time.
  • Support and/or perform other IT related duties and/or project tasks as assigned.
  • Associate Degree from an accredited technical college or equivalent 2 years plus work experience.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft applications, Operating systems, PCs, and related networks.
  • Familiarization with MS Windows operating systems and MS Office Suites.
  • Familiar with PCs, printers, cell phones, and network equipment, wiring, cabling, and basic hand tools.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Ability to climb ladders.
  • Good driving record with current, valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a TWIC card.
