Title:                  Investigation Specialist
Position:           Full-time Salaried Exempt
Reports to:       Director of Safety
Division:           Gulf-Inland
Location:          La Porte, TX
 
Principal Responsibilities:
  • Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations of all incidents as required by the Marquette Gulf-Inland & Offshore SMS and Customer requirements, including conducting interviews and preparing RCA reports.
  • Conduct regular Trend Analysis of all Root Cause & Causal Factors uncovered via the RCA process.
  • Track & Trend success of corrective & preventive actions.
  • Track all equipment failures and analyze trends.
  • Prepare a monthly Lessons Learned Summary of closed out RCA reviews for distribution to the Fleet.
  • Prepare Annual Investigative Summary report at Captains’ Training/Meetings.
  • Develop training to support corrective and preventive actions.
  • Knowledge of local waterways.
  • Ensure incident related documentation is fully completed (incident reports, witness statements, etc.).
  • Proper filing of associated incident documentation.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in areas of investigations, boarding, marine inspection or shipboard operations/engineering preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety Management, Industrial Hygiene, or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years in Marine industry preferred.
  • Strong communication (written and oral) and interview skills required.
  • Demonstrated skills and proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office required.
  • Travel ~ 50%.
  • Equifactor/Taproot experience is a plus.
  • Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC card) required.
  • Must have valid Driver’s License with clean driving record.
