Title:                    Senior IT Systems Technician
Position:             Full-time hourly/Non-Exempt

Principal Responsibilities:
  • Provide world class IT customer service for our shore and vessel staff at Marquette.
  • Install, maintain, and support all IT supported hardware and software on our vessels and in our Shore locations.
  • Install, maintain, and support all IT voice and data communications systems and peripherals installed on vessels. 
  • Provide remote support to traveling shore staff and vessel crew members experiencing IT issues.
  • Maintain an inventory of spare vessel and shore IT equipment in a ‘ready state’ to replace failed units.
  • Effectively consult and communicate with Vessel Officers, Operations, Logistics, Management and Vendors.
  • Travel to vessels to affect repairs or replace failed units.
  • Travel to other divisional offices to assist other vessel IT, team members or second level support vendors with new hardware or software rollouts.
  • Manage, direct, and assist second level support vendors, as required, to assist in issue resolutions.
  • Monitor and report on activities and provide status updates to other IT team leads and management.
  • Attend meetings, as required, with other departments to represent IT and aid business use of technology.
  • Maintain established shipping/receiving procedures for all replacement equipment, to and from vessels, and to and from suppliers.
  • Lead a team of IT Support technicians.
  • Maintain the regular and “On-Call” schedule of team members.
  • Own and Resolve all escalated support issues from your team to final resolution.
  • Support and/or perform other IT related duties and/or project tasks as assigned. 
  • A two-year degree related to electronics technology or computer technology or 4 years verifiable experience is required.
  • A 4-year degree related to technology and 5+ year experience desired.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Good communications skills.
  • Familiarization with MS Windows operating systems and MS Office Suites.
  • Familiar with PCs, printers, cell phones, and network equipment, wiring, cabling, and basic hand/power tools.
  • Familiar with DC power systems and cabling creation/soldering
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Ability to climb ladders.
  • Good driving record with current, valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a TWIC Card.
  • Must be able to travel up to 33% scheduled and on-call work hours.
  • Must be willing to perform “On-Call” weekend/evening duty.
