Title:                   Manager of Training
Position:            Full-time Salaried Exempt
Reports to:        Director of Safety
Division:            Gulf-Inland
Location:           Harahan, LA
 
 Principal Responsibilities:
  • Stay abreast of new trends and tools in employee development.
  • Record and monitor operational readiness as it pertains to marine qualifications.
  • Actively participate in mariner recruiting, interviewing and selection processes.
  • Assist in planning and facilitating employee on-boarding orientation.
  • Partner with Safety and Compliance departments to manage and continuously improve mariner training programs.
  • Work with department heads to establish and carry-out strategic plans to achieve training objectives and to ensure that annual goals are met.
  • Formulate training plans based on individual, regulatory, and company needs.
  • Prepare annual training budget for proposal.
  • Compile, analyze, interpret, and report statistical data; prepare comprehensive training curriculum to eliminate or minimize shortfalls.
  • Maintain awareness of technological advancements and amendments to applicable federal regulations and implement changes into training objectives.
  • Ensure timely completion of training activities.
  • Travel to other divisional offices, locations, and vessels for training or to assist others in training as needed.
  • Help to implement, manage, and track online training with third party online training provider.
 
Qualifications:
  • Ability to present complex information to a variety of audiences.
  • History of training and coaching a diverse work force.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety Management, Education, Training & Development, HR or similar field or equivalent on-the-job experience.
  • 2+ years in marine industry preferred.
  • Familiarity with traditional and modern training techniques (mentoring, coaching, OJT, eLearning, etc.).
  • Experience managing people and teams with ability to thrive in a team environment.
  • Strong communication (written and oral) skills required.
  • Self-starter with ability to perform a variety of complicated tasks with minimal supervision required.
  • Demonstrated skills and proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite required.
  • Ability to travel up to 30%.
