Title:                     Human Resources Business Partner

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for day-to-day Gulf HR functions/activities. 
  • Leads the Gulf vessel based recruiting function, including sourcing qualified applicants and interviewing vessel candidates, oversight and management of the qualifications process (physical, background screening, etc.), and completion of on-boarding process.
  • Responsible for Deck Crew new hire orientation training scheduling and facilitation (NOLA & Houston).
  • Oversees San Jacinto Maritime College training and Internships.
  • Assists Corporate HR team with Gulf and Offshore shore based recruiting (i.e., phone screens, interviews, etc.)
  • Member of the leadership team driving corporate culture through collaborative partnerships and communication with other departments. 
  • Works closely with Claims department on managing employee return-to-work process.
  • Works with HR corporate benefits team to ensure employee leaves of absence (i.e., FMLA) and fit-for-duty processes are applied consistently and in compliance with federal requirements and company return to work procedures.
  • Leads the Gulf Employee Relations’ function, handles investigations (i.e., harassment, discrimination, etc.), terminations, exit interviews, and acts as a coach/consultant as overall Gulf HR support function.
  • Responsible for division policy and procedure interpretation/explanation and effective and consistent application.
  • Analyzes HR metrics and statistical data (i.e. Turnover) to identify and determine root causes and develop recommendations for improvement.
  • Leads HR representative for TMSA reviews, corrective actions, including being present for all audits.
  • Oversees local grant program (scheduling of training and tracking of training funds).
  • Attends career fairs and other recruiting and community and/or HR/marine industry related events.
  • Provides articles on behalf of Gulf and Offshore in support of quarterly publication of company newsletter.
  • Oversees company event planning/proposals for Gulf-Inland and Offshore.
  • Handles Gulf vessel employee unemployment claims and represents company in related hearings.



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills required, both oral and written.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • Self-starter with ability to perform a variety of tasks.
  • 3-5 years of HR Generalist experience with strong background in Recruiting and Employee Relations.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills required.
  • Proven leadership skills.
  • Some travel to other office locations. 
  • Experience in marine industry preferred.
