Marquette’s core customers include several of the largest buyers of bulk freight in the world and the Company’s success has been driven by a long-term partnership approach to servicing its customers.  Marquette typically transports a variety of bulk commodities such as agricultural products, fertilizer, salt, aggregates, steel products, scrap metal, industrial sand, coal, petcoke and certain liquid bulk cargoes moved in tank barges.  Through the combined operations of its River and Gulf-Inland divisions, we provide customers integrated marine transportation solutions from as far north as Minneapolis / Chicago to the Center Gulf, west as far as Brownsville, TX and east to Pensacola, FL.  Marquette’s Offshore division is a leading provider of tugboat services in the dredging market and for complex towing work required for special project cargo moves.
Principal Responsibilities:
  • Promotes company’s purpose, commitment, and values.
  • Develops content to be posted on social media platforms that reflects brand.
  • Serves on Marquette’s event committee.
  • Develop materials and hosts lunch & learns to educate staff on best communication practices.
  • Create company printing materials, such as orientation materials, brochures, flyers, etc. as needed.
  • Participates in planning and strategic brainstorming for all communications projects and events.
  • Recommends new social media strategies and measurement tools.
  • Draft internal and external company announcements.
  • Leverage analytics to determine effectiveness and seek continuous improvement of communication and marketing initiatives.
  • Assist in administrative duties including answering employee questions, scanning and filing paperwork, preparing for new hire orientation, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Seeking Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Human Resources, Communications, Marketing, or related field.
  • Must be highly proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Proven social media experience.
  • Creative and outside-the-box thinker.
  • Ability to organize daily workload by prioritizing job duties and tasks with a focus on customer service.
  • Must be an independent self-starter and possess ability to perform a variety of tasks with moderate supervision.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and handle sensitive employee information.
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced environment.
