Position Overview:
The IT Director of Business Solutions will serve as a key leader and utility player with broad responsibilities for technology solutions that support the business needs of Marquette.  As the IT Director, you will take a hands-on role in managing projects and providing leadership and coaching to IT team members throughout every aspect of the IT solution development life cycle. To be successful in this role, you must be an excellent communicator who is able to translate complex business requirements into functional technology solutions. You must have proven experience in successfully selecting and/or designing software solutions that are aligned with, and add value to, the business. 

Principal Responsibilities:
  • Establish relationships with all departments, across all divisions, to become the point of contact for technology assisted business solutions and ideas at Marquette.
  • Investigate, analyze, and understand company needs to define and document functional requirements.
  • Design, build or acquire, and implement functional technology solutions that add value to Marquette.
  • Communicate and validate solution designs with all impacted business customers.
  • Define clear deliverables, roles, and responsibilities for assigned resources, as required for specific projects or initiatives.
  • Provide leadership to team members and 3rd parties to ensure they are actively working toward established milestones.
  • Hold regular project team and customer meetings to review progress and address challenges and project risks.
  • Assist with solving technical problems when they arise.
  • Ensure that selected technology solutions can be successfully implemented with our vessel infrastructure.
  • Assist in establishing and implement training processes and strategies for all technical personnel.
  • Work closely with the VP of IT and CFO on developing and implementing IT strategic vision across Marquette.
  • Promote positive change culture and process improvement initiatives as assigned or observed.
  • Additional IT project management and related tasks as assigned.
  • Degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Proven experience in project management processes, strategies, and methodologies.
  • Experience in leading others in delivery of IT solutions.
  • Hands-on experience in implementing and managing software projects.  Agile methodology experience preferred.
  • Working familiarity with modern coding languages, ideally html5, JavaScript, .NET, AngularJS, PHP
  • Experience with cloud technologies (e.g., VMware, Azure) databases (e.g., SQL), json, and noSQL/nonrelational DBs desired.
  • Previous mobile App project experience.  App development/design experience a plus.
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with all levels of employees and management in the organization.
  • Ability to link and apply existing technology capabilities to achieve business strategies and goals.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve complex issues/problems, both logical and interpersonal.
  • Effective verbal, written and presentation communications skills.
  • Experience interacting and managing vendors, contractors, and others.
  • Strong sense of personal accountability regarding timelines, decision-making and supervising assigned resources.
  • Ability to anticipate project challenges and seek to proactively head-off obstacles.
  • Availability outside of normal office hours when needed, to support the needs of a 24/7, 365-day business.
  • Job may require up to 15% travel, in US for short durations.
