Principal Responsibilities:
  • Maintain document control and recordkeeping for the Safety Management System program.
  • Support both Safety and Engineering Departments in ensuring all documentation meets regulatory requirements and required standards.
  • Collect and register all technical documents such as drawings and blueprints in the company’s system
  • Follow and improve document control procedures.
  • Keep other personnel updated on new document versions and how to obtain access.
  • Input compliance data to a proprietary database and publish reports as required.
  • Provide technical writing services to Safety and Engineering Departments.
  • Monitor regulatory and industry standard changes, and work with subject matter experts to develop/update SMS guidance and training.
  • Support internal and external audits.
  • Draft Alerts, and Bulletins for all vessels.
  • Maintain Compliance Activity Trackers. 
  • Conduct analysis of Operational, Engineering and Safety trends.
  • Serve as Situation Unit Leader and Documentation Unit Leader for the Incident Management Team.

  • Associate degree or higher in business administration or equivalent work experience as an effective technical writer.
  • Ability to organize and preserve documents.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Write user-friendly content that meets the needs of the target audience.
  • Proven ability to quickly learn and understand complex topics.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Be thorough and pay attention to detail.
  • Understanding of Safety/Quality Management Systems is preferred. 
  • Demonstrated skills and proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office required.
