Title:                 Safety Management Specialist

Principal Responsibilities:
  • Provide full Safety and Regulatory Management support to improve/develop Quality Management objectives.
    • Assist in development of compliance strategies to meet Tanker Management Self-Assessment (TMSA) requirements.
    • Assist in development of compliance strategies to meet International Safety Management (ISM) requirements.
    • Assist in development of compliance strategies to meet International Standards Organization (IS0) requirements.
    • Assist in developing methodologies to collect data and analyze trends.
    • Write and revise policy to address new requirements correctly and effectively.
    • Forecast gaps and challenges to ensure greatest success in meeting customer, regulatory and industry compliance requirements.
  • Record and maintain current database concerning Internal and External Audits of management systems, performance, corrective action implementation, analysis of Operational, Engineering and Safety trends.
  • Maintains document control and recordkeeping requirements for the Safety Management System program.
  • Manage audit records, maintain real-time corrective action status and prepare correspondence as needed to ensure audit performance information is made availability timely and in an easy-to-understand graphical format.
  • Establish, develop, maintain and update departmental data collection systems. 
  • Draft end-of-month incident summary, Alerts, and Bulletins for all vessels.
  • Input data to a proprietary database and publish reports as required.
  • Comply with the company Safety Management System in support of continual improvement objectives.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience in Safety Management or a related field preferred.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Advanced understanding of Management System auditing is preferred.
  • Advanced understanding of Safety/Quality Management Systems construction and implementation is preferred. 
  • Strong communication (written and oral) skills required.
  • Knowledge of TMSA regulatory requirements is a plus.
  • Knowledge of ISM and ISO requirements is a plus.
  • Experience with the marine industry is a plus.
  • Demonstrated skills and proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office required.
  • Possess MS Excel skills to produce easy to understand data in graphical and tabular format.
