Title:               Purchasing/Engineering Assistant
Position:        Full-time Hourly/Non-Exempt
Reports to:    Director of Purchasing
Division:         River
Location:        Paducah, KY
Principal Responsibilities:
  • Process account information, customer information, and a variety of other forms of documents by resolving inconsistencies and reviewing data for errors using standard data entry procedures.
  • Creating and submitting requisitions from vessels to appropriate office personnel.
  • Receiving and processing delivery receipts within MCFO and tracking items not yet received.
  • Request further information for documents that are deemed incomplete.
  • Checking completed work for errors or duplicate information before submitting the final product.
  • Verifying, correcting, deleting unnecessary data, or combining data from sources before entering into a file.
  • Entering information into specific files or forms from recorded material, hand written pages, or figures contained in printed files.
  • Enter lists of numbers, items, or other data into computers, for storage, processing or research purposes.
  • Comply with Safety Management System in support of continual improvement and management objectives
  • Other duties/tasks as assigned.
  • Assist in analysis, modeling, trending, etc.
  • Assist in the development of new processes that will improve the overall performance and efficiencies within the Engineering department.
  • Manage shipyard/quarterly vessel inspection lists that are sent into the office from the field.
  • Manage a vessel component failure history report that helps the Engineering team to make smart, proactive preventative maintenance decisions.
  • Generate and update daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports as necessary.
  • Participate in cross functional teams.
  • Experience in MCFO is a plus.
  • Associate’s degree or 2+ years equivalent experience.
  • Experience with parts catalog management is a plus.  
  • Accuracy, attention to detail, and analytical skills are essential.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work an on-call rotation after hours and on weekends (approximately every 6 weeks).
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office.
