Explore life in the River, Gulf-Inland, Offshore and Fleet divisions — where every crew feels like family.
River Division
The River Division operates on the Mississippi River System, Illinois, Ohio and Tennessee Rivers. The crew typically consists of a Captain, Pilot, Engineer, Cook and 4-6 Deck Crew. The Engineer and Cook positions are exclusive to the River Division, offering a unique career opportunity for those working in this division. Our 24/7 operation requires most crew members to work two, six-hour shifts, with a 28-day on, 14-day off schedule.
Gulf-Inland Division
The Gulf-Inland Division operates on the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway as well as the Lower Mississippi and Arkansas Rivers. Operations are diverse, involving both liquid and dry cargo and operating 1,250-4,000 HP vessels, which provides valuable hands-on experience. Crews typically consist of 4-6 crew members including a Captain, Pilot and 2-4 Deck Crew or Tankermen and typically work a 28-day on, 14-day off schedule.
Offshore Division
The Offshore Division offers a dynamic and rewarding opportunity to work in some of the most exciting maritime regions including the Gulf of America, the Eastern Seaboard and the Caribbean Sea. Crews typically consist of 4-5 mariners including a Captain, Licensed Mate and 2-3 Deckhands. Offshore mariners receive specialized training tailored to the unique demands of each region and project.
Life in the Fleet
Fleeting offers mariners a unique experience on the water, giving them the rare opportunity to return home each evening. Our fleet boats run exclusively in Louisiana on the Lower Mississippi from Belle Chasse to Baton Rouge. With most vessels operating on a convenient “2 for 1” schedule, such as 10 days on and 5 days off, mariners enjoy a balanced rhythm of work and home time.

Marquette genuinely cares about its people. The constant push for continuous improvement and safety initiatives is paramount here. The transparency and open-door atmosphere are refreshing. I do feel that my work environment is like an extended family and I really like the people I work with.
From my experience working at Marquette, the commitment to safety for employees feels very real. A lot of times at other companies, the company “mottos” or “missions” feel like corporate jargon with no real meaning behind them. Here, it feels like the Conquer Harm program has really engrained itself in the culture.
Marquette fosters an environment that encourages employees to want to better themselves and their work productivity. I believe Marquette does a good job encouraging employees to make internal moves to new positions/departments that will provide professional growth and enhance their professional experience.
